The project “Expanding the agricultural development model” was implemented between 2017 and 2019 and funded by theEuropean Union enabled Dahari to improve its agroecological intensification approach and to mobilize more than 4,700 agricultural producers (42% of whom are women) across 21 villages in the Comoros to participate in the project’s activities.

The mobilized and supported producers received training at 321 demonstration plots, covering topics related to propagation, planting, intercropping, and integrated soil management.

Nearly 1,800 producers (48% of whom are women) were able to propagate and plant more than 104,000 improved food-crop seeds (banana, sweet potato, etc.).

790 producers (61% of whom are women) were able to engage in an initiative to improve the distribution and sale of agricultural products. A turnover of nearly 14 million Comorian francs (equivalent to 28,000 euros) was generated through the fairs and points of sale organized by Dahari during the project.

102 technicians from partner organizations were trained in the agroecological methods being promoted. The capacities of technicians from the CRDEs in Salamani and Mrémani, the organizations Croissance Rouge and MAEECHA in Anjouan, the National Horticultural Center (CNH) and SNAC in Grande Comore, and the Coconi Agricultural High School in Mayotte were strengthened at Dahari’s agroecological experimentation and training centers.
