The third fishing closure ceremony was organised this Thursday, 12 November, at Vassy college in the presence of around one hundred fishermen and women.

As with every edition since 2018, local associations Maecha Bora, Malezi Mema, and Fikira Ndjema are organising these closures with technical support from Dahari and Blue Ventures in order to allow the octopuses to regenerate and thrive.

Local authorities and associations have confirmed this new edition by signing a document committing all parties to abide by these rules, which the residents of the coastal villages welcome enthusiastically as they have already proved very effective. The Governorate of Anjouan, the mayor of Vouani, the gendarmerie of Pomoni and Sima, and the Anjouan fishermen's union also participated in the festivities.
