While Dahari has been conducting reforestation campaigns since 2015—during which more than 70,000 trees have already been planted—the commune of Jimilimé hosted the launch ceremony for this year’s reforestation campaign for the first time.

More than 200 villagers gathered to attend the event, which was graced by the presence of the Regional Director of Environment and Forests for Anjouan, the delegate in charge of production and the environment for Anjouan, the Mayor of Jimilimé, and the Country Director for Initiative Développement Poitiers in the Comoros. The program featured a play raising awareness about deforestation and a lively *tari* performance (traditional music and dance), and concluded with the ceremonial planting of a tree by the officials.

To ensure the preservation of water resources, combat erosion, and conserve areas of importance for biodiversity, no fewer than 100,000 seedlings and cuttings will be planted during this new campaign—ranging from forest and fruit-bearing trees to fast-growing species.
