While Dahari has been carrying out reforestation campaigns since 2015 during which more than 70 trees have already been planted, it was the commune of Jimilimé which hosted the launch ceremony of the reforestation campaign for the first time.
More than 200 villagers flocked to follow this event in the presence of the regional director of environment and forests of Anjouan, the delegate in charge of production and the environment of Anjouan, the mayor of Jimilimé and the country director of Initiative Développement Poitiers in the Comoros. They were able to enjoy a program enhanced by a play to raise awareness of deforestation, a particularly cheerful tari (music and traditional dance), and concluded with the planting of a tree with the officials.
In order to ensure the preservation of water resources, the fight against erosion and the conservation of areas important for biodiversity, no less than 100 plants and cuttings will be planted during this new campaign, from forest species to fruit species, including fast-growing species.
